About New Yorker Font

New Yorker Font is a fancy serif style that was originally designed by Wiescher. This typeface was created in the span of five years with more than 800 languages and 100 writing systems.

Before it was licensed under the SIL Open Font License after that in September 2015, the font family moved under the protection of Apache License 2.0.

Google especially designed this font family to solve the problem which always occurs during the process of text rendering by the computer because there are times when characters got replaced by small characters which usually are small rectangle boxes.

So, Google thought about creating a font family which nearly got more than 64,000 characters. In the Latin language, Noto means I write; I mark and I note.

There is also a similar font project by Google which is called Noto Emoji Project. There are many emojis and some are even used in applications of Google.
